Welcome to the start of 23 Things! 23 Things is self-paced learning program all about Web 2.0 technologies. Over the coming weeks you'll be reading about and experimenting with a lot of different online tools.
Each week will cover a different tool, and you'll have one or more tasks, or 'things' to do, and some information for you to read.
Origins of 23 Things
This program originated from the article 43 Things I might want to do this year by Stephen Abram, Sirsi Dynix's Vice-President of Innovation.
Stephen's list was then reduced to 23 Things by Helene Blowers, Public Services Technology Director of The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County and has seen countless permutations and learning experiences since!
Where to get help
You are not alone! If you get stuck using any of the tools we're using, there is plenty of help available:
- Pick your colleague's brains by starting a discussion on Google Groups
- Leave a comment here on the 23 Things blog. Just leave a comment and we'll post a response as soon as possible.
This week, all you need to do is read the list of 23 Things you'll be doing and some of the additional information about where 23 Things came from and why we are doing it.

Next week
Next week, you'll learn how to create a blog with Blogger and add a blog post to it. Once you've created your blog, you can register your participation in 23 Things.
