Blogging is not just about getting your message across. It's also for two-way communication - other people can comment on what you have written, or respond to you on their own blog and link back to you. It's a great way of sharing ideas and encouraging lively debate.
By now we have a nice list of staff blogs. You can see them on our 23 Things Participants page. You may not know which blog belongs to which person, but you can take a look at the blogs and see what they're written. If your blog is not on that list yet, you may want to go back and revisit tasks 2 and 3.
Your task
Go into a few other people's blogs and leave some comments. You may offer a word of encouragement, or read some people's thoughts on blogging and tell them your own views.
Other people may comment on your blog.Write a blog post about your experiences contributing to discussions on other people's blogs, and having people comment on your blog.
Keep track of comments on your blog
To save yourself continually checking to see if people have commented on your blog, set up an email notification:
- Log into Blogger
- Click on Dashboard
- Click on Settings
- Click on the Comments hyperlink
- Scroll down to 'Comment Notification Email' and enter your email address in the space provided
- Save Settings
What's next?
You may want to keep watching some people's blogs for new posts and adding comments where-ever you feel like encouraging, helping out with a problem or responding to what they've written. There's even ways of subscribing to their blogs, but that will be covered in steps 9 to 11 of 23 Things.
